The finer points of a 1/4″ foot

The presser foot I use the most is my 1/4” foot. This foot helps you get a perfect 1/4” seam, which is vital to quilting. Some 1/4” feet have a guide which rides along the edge of the fabric, and on others, the edge of the foot rides along the edge of the fabric. I like a 1/4″ foot with a guide best, but that’s a personal preference.

This foot is also great for binding, or any time you need to stop 1/4” from the edge of the fabric. In addition to the edge or bar at the right of the foot, most 1/4″ feet have several marks on them, indicating 1/4″ from the needle hole in different directions. Having these other marks can be very helpful.

I hope this is useful to you!
