Pro Tip: Workspace Clutter

I am an extremely right-brain, creative type. This means that my workspace can get messy and unorganized very quickly. Usually, chairs and my cutting table get piled high with stuff.

But… I work best in a clean environment.

Here’s one thing I have done for years: I have plastic bins for fabric scraps that I sort by color.  Any time I am doing appliqué, I raid the bins for my fabric.  That alone helps keep the clutter at bay.

After a project is completed, I try to get the extra scraps in those bins. I find that those bins are always the most organized space in my studio.

Another thing I’ve been doing forever is this: I use a plastic organizer that I got from a hardware store to hold presser feet and other small items that I frequently use when sewing. I keep the organizer close to my sewing machine, so I can easily get what I need.

Those are two things that have helped me a lot. If you have organization tips to share, please email [email protected], and I’ll add them the next time I post on reducing clutter.
